Flexibility Of The Will

John BoyUk, 19 September

"Remember that to change your mind and to follow someone's correction are consistent with a free will. For the action is yours alone — to fulfill its purpose in keeping with your impulse and judgment, and yes, with your intelligence."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Today's meditation is a really interesting read and the same can be said in trading terms too.

Don't be afraid to tweak or adapt your strategies as you see fit, along the way.

I last tweaked my horse racing strategy, back in December 2018 and this was because of some very valuable extra stats/data that was made available to me and gave me an extra edge for when it met certain rules/criteria for my strategy.

I am certainly not advocating changing your strategy, just for the hell of it! I am a great believer in the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it". But if any of your strategies can be improved, then it is worth adapting them accordingly.

I love the last two sentences of today's meditation, because it sums it up perfectly for me and for you too I hope! I quote; "The point is not to have an iron will, but an adaptable will--a will that makes full use of reason to clarify perception, impulse and judgement to act effectively for the right purpose.

It's not weak to change and adapt. Flexibility is it's own kind of strength. In fact, this flexibility combined with strength, is what will make us resilient and unstoppable."

So don't be afraid to make the right call about tweaking your strategies, if you feel that there is a need, to make them even better.

You will know if and when it's time to make the change because you have the "flexibility of the will"

It's your call; you've got this!
