"People aren't in awe of your sharp mind? So be it. But you have many other qualities you can't claim to have been deprived of at birth. Display then those qualities in your own power: honesty, dignity, endurance, chastity, contentment, frugality, kindness, freedom, persistence, avoiding gossip, and magnanimity."
—Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 5.5
Today's meditation is absolutely true and regardless of whether we weren't born taller, or smarter etc. etc. what we can do is learn regardless.
We set off on our trading journey, learning and developing or finding strategies to adhere to, through thick and thin. We constantly practice to become better and better, therefore becoming more consistent and confident, as we get to know our strategies inside out and back to front. Familiarisation breeds a confidence and belief, that you can make the right decisions, when required.
If we stick to the rules/criteria for our strategies 100% of the time, we are getting into the correct habits and we are also developing the correct mindset for trading. Avoid the temptation to trade on impulse or because someone else has suggested a trade. If you have done your own due diligence and stuck to your own/rules criteria, then it is all down to you and you alone. The worst thing you can do is break your rules and trade something that you shouldn't, or jump on something purely on impulse, or because somebody else is doing it! You must stick to the plan or eventually your luck will run out!
This can then lead to revenge trading, trading in anger and going full tilt trying the get your loss back and before you know it your trading bank is dwindling!
So take your time, sticking to your rules with patience and discipline and "show the qualities you were made for."
Slow and steady wins the race; you've got this.
