Our Well-Being Lies In Our Actions

John BoyUk, 14 May

"Those obsessed with glory attach their well-being to the regard of others, those who love pleasure tie it to feelings, but the one with true understanding seeks it only in their own actions. . . . Think on the character of the people one wishes to please, the possessions one means to gain, and the tactics one employs to such ends. How quickly time erases such things, and how many will yet be wiped away."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Today's meditation is very true in life, but also in trading.

We should always "take pleasure from our actions--in taking the right actions--rather than the results that come from them"

If a trade is going against us, we take the right action by cutting it short and we take pleasure from the fact that we have stuck to our rules and avoided a potentially much bigger loss, regardless of what the outcome would have been!

If we become consistent with our trading, by sticking to our rules 100% of the time, we are looking after our own well-being because we are taking the right actions when we are trading. This in turn gives us great satisfaction and pleasure, from how we are developing as traders.

As it says in today's meditation and I quote; "Our focus is not on what happens to us but on how we respond. In this, we will always find contentment and resilience"

How we respond when trades go against us, is vital as we evolve and make steady progress on our trading journey.
