"What is it then to be properly educated? It is learning to apply our natural preconceptions to the right things according to Nature, and beyond that to separate the things that lie within our power from those that don't."
— Epictetus, Discourses
You don't need to be educated to make the right decisions in trading. Some of the cleverest people will make the wrong decisions and/or miss the obvious things, because they are over complicating how simple trading can be! We don't need to be highly educated, we need to be smart at what we do and how we do it!
You have a list of rules/criteria to follow based on your strategies. If a potential trade fully meets your criteria 100%, it is then executed and managed until you have taken your targeted profit or cut short a losing trade at a manageable level to protect your bank. Nothing could be simpler, as long as you have the correct mindset to manage the trades to their completion.
You don't need to cover x with y in case z happens or you can be in such a position that you are confusing yourself and prone to make mistakes and hesitate, because you are not sure what to do at that precise moment when you need to know exactly what you are doing!
Keep it simple so that you can react in a heartbeat to make the correct decision should you need to.
Be aware of how simple it is to manage your trades and reflect on any trades that went wrong. Maybe you failed to pull the trigger and exit a losing trade early enough? Strive to make sure that you get that right the next time you need to pull the trigger! Practice, practice, practice. Put in the hard work!
Having a simple and easy to follow set of rules/criteria for your strategies and knowing those strategies inside out and back to front, because you have practised and perfected them day in day out rinse and repeat, means that you have educated yourself to be able to confidently make progress on your trading journey.
This is "the sign of true education."
