No Self-flagellation Needed

John BoyUk, 28 June

"Philosophy calls for simple living, but not for penance — it's quite possible to be simple without being crude."
— Seneca, Moral Letters

Another reminder to be kind to yourself when things go wrong, because it will happen at times and you need to respond in the right way.

It's vital to forgive yourself when you slip up. If you don't, you are in the wrong frame of mind to trade effectively. What has happened, has happened. You can't turn the clock back, however much you wish that you could!

Self improvement comes from learning from the mistakes that you make. It's only when you are repeatedly making the same mistakes, again and again and not learning from them, that it becomes a bigger problem.

If you stick to the rules/criteria for your strategies 100% and nothing else, you will be profitable long term, even with an occasional mistake; as long as you don't get caught up with hating yourself for what you've done, getting upset or angry and falling into the trap of revenge trading.

Beating yourself up over a mistake, serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever, so remember "no self-flagellation needed"
