Wants Make You A Servant

John BoyUk, 28 April

"Tantalus: The highest power is — Thyestes: No power, if you desire nothing."
— Seneca, Thyestes

Today's meditation is another interesting one and applies to trading too.

We must not be servants to the markets; We must use the markets to our advantage when we see opportunities that fully meet the rules/criteria for our strategies. The power is in the markets, IF you are desperate to make money and you don't stick to your rules and you jump on trades that you simply shouldn't be trading. The power is with us, when we have a set of rules/criteria to stick to rigidly. We must take what the market offers us and be content; remember those small greens soon add up.

I love the quote at the start of today's meditation; Thyestes: "No power if you desire nothing."

If we are content with what the market gives us, we are not trying to squeeze out extra profit and we don't become desperate servants to the market! Indifference to it, turns the highest power into no power!

With patience, discipline and the correct trading mindset, we bide our time and take what is offered when the opportunities appear. Being comfortable and at peace with what we are achieving through our trading, means that we don't desperately want, because that would make us become servants to the market. Instead we become content and comfortable with what the market offers us, giving us the power to control our trades to completion, on our trading journey.
